Oretama review

When looking at title, synopsis or score, Oretama doesn't look really tempting. I'm sure many people are turned off by those without giving this masterpiece a try. Mind you, I didn't use the word "masterpiece" in sarcastic way here.
In this review I'll try to explain Oretama's awesomeness!

Let's start with genres. It says "Comedy, Demons, Ecchi, Romance, Seinen" and Oretama delivers exactly that: it obviously has demons, very cute and satisfying romance, hardcore/borderline hentai ecchi, some of the best comedy I've seen in a manga so far and it all in enjoyable seinen setting that allows to push stuff further than shounens.
Despite absurd premise the story is really interesting. Saving world while trying not to cum for a month is sure different than usual world-saving settings, but it sure makes it easy to feel empathy towards protagonist and understand the feeling of pressure (both psychological and in his balls) he feels. Being first and foremost ecchi comedy, Oretama doesn't have (nor does it need) any overly deep stuff or mindblowing plot twists. It's simple, stupidly funny and damn erotic - exactly what it's supposed to be when you look at this title.

Characters are similar to story - simple but effective. They don't have some deep backstories or complicated personalities.
Main cast is pretty much what one would expect from such title: average protagonist and flat tsundere girl with pretty, somewhat airhead, girl in background. They aren't anything special but are nice to see and fit in their roles.
Then there are side characters. From old-fart angel, through last-boss queen of hell to monster-of-the-week demon girls that attack protagonist, they were all fun and enjoyable to see. Because of nature of this manga those random demons coming for Kohta's cum were important for comedic (and erotic) purposes and, despite some of them appearing only in one chapter, very memorable - actually the scene I find the most fun personally was with one of those side girls.

When it comes to art, Oretama shines where it matters - at ecchi scenes that is. Overall this manga isn't that pretty, but author really excels at drawing erotic stuff. Oretama could work better as fapping material than some hentai titles.

This manga was on top of my favourite list since i finished reading it. Now, after reading Oretama again, my opinion still stands: it's the most fun and one of the most erotic manga I know. Add to it engaging story, satisfying romance and very solid ending. Enjoyment-wise Oretama is simply flawless.
As long as you don't have problems with heavy ecchi, you should enjoy this manga.
