THE BRIDE OF THE WATER GOD review

"What the-"
"Are you kidding me??"
"OH COME ON!"

Thus begins and ends my litany at the end of each chapter. Each last page leaves me writhing in the agonies and ecstasies of suspense, delivered immediate and deadpan as though it were the most natural thing in the world. It never gets old; I never tire of it. How could I? This is possibly one of the best stories I've ever read.

The characters are deep, strong, devoted, and troubled. You ache for them, you laugh with them. You understand the betrayal and the anger and the hurt. You rejoice in the love. This story, for as long as you're reading it, is real.

The art is beautiful and detailed. It's on an entirely different level. There are pages like portraits even as there are animated panels with irritated chibis. It all flows in perfect sequence; not one line feels out of place or rushed. And it's breathtaking.

This is a story that both moves you and devours you. It is not your typical shojo; I don't know that it should classify as shojo, or even josei. All I do know is that this is an expertly delivered tale in all respects, and you are truly depriving yourself if you don't read it.
