This was one of the first mangas i ... didn't want to read. The description sounded wierd, it's name sounded not like most shoujo, romance types, and i just ignored it several times.
But when you read it and give it a chance, it's amazing. It captures you with the very first page. At first you see the perspective of Yanagi, a prince like character who thinks highly of himself and is practically perfect. Then he meets Kujou, a girl who has average looks, not afraid to speak her mind, and manly in many ways, but she exceeds better than Yanagi, getting better scores. This of course as you say, pisses of Yanagi, who is angered how an ordinary girl like Kujou is better than him, making everything he does a game or competition with her. But as time passes by, Yanagi starts to develop feelings for her as he learns that she has a heart, tries her best and cares for others than herself, all with a beautiful smile. This story tells of Yanagi's goal making it the last game. Who will win?
The story by now may seem like any ordinary manga, Yanagi and Kujou will (maybe) eventually realize their true feelings, or maybe a love triange will apear (?!). But the story is brilliant with it's pure setting, it adventures into a story with not the typical story but making it into an adventure for Yanagi and the red string of fate. The story is a colision of comedy, romance, and "doki doki" moments giving it a score of 9 for story.
The art is cute. Of course it's not the best, but it's cute and unique in it's own way, enough to spot which guys are hot or which girls are cute (XD). I'd give it a 7.
Character, i think this is best. Sure you'd find characters like Yanagi, but what makes him unique is that the mangaka makes him seem like any ordinary pure boy falling in love for the first time. I love seeing his innocence and pretty childish personality making it hilarious and cute. I LOVE kujou's personality. It's definatley not the typical girl personality! She's strong willed, and quite straight forward. Although she's smart and athletic, she's really dull when it comes to love and friendship. Her personality makes me laugh but also warms my heart. I also love Souma, he's good looking, cute but really selfish and usually a fake prince, although i think he may have a soft side. Giving character 9.
I really enjoy and LOVE this manga. I reccomend you read it if you wish to have laughs and heartracing moments. Overall 10 marks. I can't wait for more and this is truely and amazing manga.
