Boku to Kanojo no XXX review
Want to state this at the start of the review. But i might come back and lower this to a 3 in the future.

Just nothing but Annoying, Cringy, Unfunny and stupid moments.

Biggest hate i have for this entire story is that the two MC's don't even get together. It's so annoying to watch some guy's best friend almost rape him multiple times just because he's now a chick. I can't even properly explain how much this entire story annoyed me and the biggest problem is this right her.

Also things like the chick that goes into the guy's body is just a total asshole that goes and sleeps with other women while dating her best friend and also telling the guy that's in the women's body not to even hold hands with anyone or be sad.

2nd worst thing about this is that they don't even return to their original bodies ffs. That's the one thing you always do in body swap stories because no one wants to see two people in the wrong body and i feel that i don't need to explain why it's wrong.

I feel that my 2nd issue wouldn't be as bad if the two of them fell in love while being in each others body but even then that would still be bad.

I would have loved it shit tons more if it ended with both of them back in their original bodies and have the chick still dating her best friend ( They never told her that her boyfriend is actually her best friend and that her boyfriend has been going around cheating on people) Have the guy not be in love with his friend ( Need i remind you that his friend has tried raping him multiple times when he was a girl) Like i never really like gay romances because they never seem natural and seems weird in stories. But this is made even worse when one of them has tried RAPPING HIS BEST FRIEND. Like honestly they just gloss over this shit like it's nothing and acts like it doesn't lead to mental trauma. Hell, if the story found the need to have the two guys be together then jsut have his gender be changed or some shit.

I just can't put into words how much this annoyed me and it's no wonder it took me over a week to finish when i have to deal with some of the worst cast of characters in a manga i'v seen in the past month or two.

Again worst part is that the two MC's don't fall in love. The one thing the entire audience is wanting and rooting for and not for the guy to fall for the rape guy and the cheating girl to get the friend who is completely innocent. I still don't know why they went this route of them not falling in love and switching bodies back but it easily lowers this score to anything decent to kind of bad.

Only thing i can say is that the girl's personality is funny the first few chapters but after that i stopped caring after she threatens the other MC for the millionth time with violence if the MC show's any type of human emotion. I do think that the Personality is best fitted for the girl body though.

Overall i can't recommend this at all and suggest you avoid unless you need you blood to boil a bit.

Edit: Fuck i didn't even mention how crappy it is for the guy in the girls body because he no one missing him and no one caring about him besides the rape guy. His own family likes the girl as their son better then him and it's honestly depressing. Like fuck sake, Not only does this dude lose his body but he also realizes he is alone in this world ( Not counting rape dude) and doesn't even have anyone to talk to about because if he does then the chick will beat the shit out of him.

I picked this up off the shelf of my local bookstore. It looked cute, so I decided to give it a try. And boy, this has to be the biggest regret of my manga-reading life!

First off: The story- fairly original. I mean, a feminine boy and masculine girl switch bodies and see what the "other side" is like? I can get behind that! Unfortunately, that is brought down by the reinforcement of sexual stereotypes and disgusting character interactions.

Akira is a PIG! While she has an issue with Momoi looking at/ touching her body (And how can he not? He has to bathe sometime!), she has no issue with using his body in any way she deems fit- from touching/exploring to sleeping with girls! And then has the nerve to say that if Momoi dares touch her body inappropriately, then she'll be so ruined for marriage that she'll embarrass him in horrible horrible ways! And to top it off, one of the other main chracters acts like a soon-to-be rapist, cornering Momoi and getting as close as physically possible to rape (and again, the story reinforces insulting sexual stereotypes by making Momoi like it. Most girls would be completely and utterly disgusted, so I was not amused!)

And to top it off, the art was bad. Not only did the characters look indifferent under normal circumastances, with generic and somehat badly-done character designs, but for the most part they were ugly blocky bodies or chibi characters.

So if you find this in your local bookstore, pass by it and read Skip Beat! or ARIA instead. You'll be the better for it.

I dont even know where to begin....

The catagories this manga is listed as are about as far from the nature of the story as it could be. This is in no shape or form a romantic comedy, it is a psychological tradegy drama - the notion it could be anything else but a tragedy can only be due to either not having read the entire story or simply not paying mind to what is going on. The score will be based on MAL's listed genres.

The primary "comedy" is nothing but overused tropes - an old pervert and a massive siscon. Feeling massively out of place in the setting and artstyle, the supposedly fun scenes simply leaves you with an eyeroll instead of a chuckle.

Our protagonist (Akira) find himself unwillingly forced into the body of his love interest (Nanako) whom turns out to be one of the most egotistical and unlikeable characters you could imagine. Throughout the story it becomes more and more apparent that the supporting characters are all antagonist - his supposedly "bestfriend" since childhood attempts to rape him on multiple occasions, which for some reason just gets brushed off as "whatever". Everyone surrounding Akira shows no empathy towards his situation even as they learn it, including his family which much to Akira's distress turns out to having disliked his former self and with open arms essentially letting Nanako steal his identity. As if the rape attempts by Senbongi wasn't disturbing enough, how Nanako's best friend pays no mind to what trauma induced the dramatic change in "Nanako" cannot help but leave you to wonder if the story is about how easy it is for sociopath's to "hide" in front of their social circle.

As the story progress you can feel nothing but empathy and sadness for Akira's torment. The supporting cast slowly but surely shows to be nothing but narcissists who abuse Akira to futher their agenda. Akira is continuous exposed to physical and psychological torture from everyone which culminates in the complete and utter destruction of his self-consciousness and soul.

In regards to MAL's listed genres this is a spectacular failure that should be avoided.
If viewed as what it really is - a psychological tragedy - it is actually quite good if you can ignore the horribly misplaced "comedy".

Do i start from the fact that this manga made me feel so uneasy that i decided to write a review about it although i never bother writing one most of the time?

To be fair, i enjoyed reading it in the beginning, it was interesting and i couldn't excatcly predict what what going to happen next so i continued reading it. I finished it in two sittings, the first sitting was fun but it was during the second sitting that i started to feel really pissed off considering how patient i was trying to be. They kept repeating te same damn mistakes and I’m gonna start telling you how much of a prick Momoi was to Akira. She not just violated his body and used it as she wished but she also had the nerve to threaten Akira not to even look at her body?? She slept around with girls and yet got mad if Akira had some weird THOUGHTS? Like are you for real? There are just so many disgusting stereotypes in just this one manga i couldn’t honestly take it.
And let me state my unpopular opinion that a boy’s virginity is NO LESS important or special than a girl’s. And thus Momoi is disgusting.

Now I’m going to talk about how much i loathed Senbongi :) He’s just a selfish bastard for using Akira. Akira CLEARLY didn’t like being a girl but Senbongi just kept bugging him and making him feel uneasy even though he SAID many times how he didn’t want to be treated like that and how he wanted him to look at him the way he was before because he still viewed himself as a GUY!. Then there was that time when i thought he was actually a good guy and that he actually liked Akira for who he was and not for his sex but then he starts avoiding him after Akira gets back to his own body?? For real! I can’t start to describe how bad i felt for Akira. And the ending was just wrong on sooo many levels.

I picked the manga out randomly, because after reading its summary the story of a boy and a girl switching bodies could be fun and good. Well, definitely not this one.

Story: 3/10
The story was really poorly written. When there could've been lots of funny and lovely moments and cute character relationships, there was only a bland and annoying story with dreadful characters. Things happened one after another, as if the mangaka didn't spare much thought to any of them.

Art: 4/10
The art was kinda bland and the faces were mostly expressionless. There were also a lot of frames where the characters were stocky and not well drawn. The girls' eyes seemed teary all the time. And the character designs weren't well done, especially Senbongi. The mangaka's beauty ideals seem to be very...behind.

Character: 1/10
This is the worst part of the manga. The characters' personalities were really awful and seemed to be goven little consideration.
Starting with Akira. It isn't normal that a boy is such a crybaby as him. Well, it can be so to a certain extent, but he just weeps and weeps all the time, which is annoying. I doubt if any girl could weep as much as him.
Momoi is much too...evil. And egoistic. For example, when Akira seeks a way to turn their bodies back to normal, she so bluntly refuses, having stolen Akira's family and good life, leaving him only her freaky grandfather. She just doesn't consider his feelings at all. And she also freaks out when he only looks at her body, while she even beds women in Akira's. And she's such a slut, going out with other women while actually dating Shiina, but at the same time claims to care deeply about her (which was surely meant to be something cute and deep, which it wasn't).
And SENBONGI. He's just disgusting. He falls for Akira in Momoi's body and then starts attacking him, getting really close to raping, and would've actually done it, too, if Akira hadn't narrowly escaped him each time. And Akira LIKES IT. Any normal girl would be disgusted and frightened, but he only thought how good a kisser Senbongi was. He actually was falling for him. And Senbongi also looks so terrible with his long hair and glasses. The appearance would be okay, if he was meant as a laughing stock sort of a character, but the mangaka seemed to consider him as a normal, even sexy guy. Ew. And the worst part was, even after Senbongi learns Akira and Momoi have switched bodies, he still continues pursuing Akira. And his personality isn't also well thought out. With Akira, he is really flirtative and isn't embarrassed at all, even when being continuously turned down. But when Momoi in Akira's body wants to change clothes in the same room, he gets really embarrassed, which doesn't match his usual personality at all.
One thing that made me gawk was the reaction of Akira's parents after his dramatic change of personality. Instead of worrying what has happened to their son they're glad that Akira has changed, claiming that 'there was always something wrong with him' just because he was manly enough for them. Shouldn't parents love their kid, no matter his personality or manliness?

Enjoyment: 2/10
I didn't enjoy the manga. It didn't make me laugh even once. I doubt I even smiled at the wannabe jokes. The terrible characters and their relationships didn't offer me any enjoyment.

Overall: 2/10
I don't recommend this manga to anyone. I can't imagine anyone liking it (even though I see that some do).
Still, the manga isn't worth reading. Trust me.

Boku to Kanojo no XXX review
My thoughts are… really complicated. I can kinda see what Ai was going for in the manga, but she’s not really known to follow the masses. She has really strange manga ideas (like Ahiru no Ouji-sama and Gokuraku Seishun Hockey Bu, another set of manga of hers I’ve yet to finish) as well as literally throwing fuck all at the wall and seeing what sticks. And I’m guessing… this wasn’t it.

On one hand, I like the idea. I like the idea of challenging the idea between masculinity and femininity and, seeing how I actually learned something about the issues of feminism in Japan, this made me interested and there were a lot of things I had missed on my first read-through. There were actually a lot of funny parts in it – due to poor Akira’s desire to get back to his original body but, at the same time, he wanted to enjoy his time in his crush’s body. After all, he is biologically a man.

On the other hand, no, not really. I didn’t like it. In fact, I found almost all the characters, with the literal exceptions of Shiina and Akira, to be really stupid and selfish. I eventually warm up to Senbougi, but that’s only because he finally admitted he liked Akira as Akira – no matter what body he’s actually in.

Well, I liked Senbougi until the final chapters. He became really insufferable. On one hand, I can understand. When the two of them finally did return to their original bodies, Akira had started to accept the fact he was going to stay in Nanako’s body, and vice versa. Not only that, he blurted out, as he got back into his own body, that this was normal and how things should be. Apparently, this hurt Senbougi’s feelings for some reason and he started to avoid Akira after that.

Once again, on the other hand… no, not really. I thought the point of Senbougi and Akira becoming a couple was that Senbougi was still going to like him even as a man – but that’s not the case. There was a scene that he “attacks” Momoi after the final switchback, thinking she’s Akira still. This was supposed to be funny but then it finally shows what my major problem was this was: Gender was still a big deal to Senbougi.

Momoi couldn’t care any less if she was a woman or a man – if Shiina was bisexual. Since Shiina wasn’t, Momoi was determined to get back into Akira’s body and the end. I’m not too comfortable with that idea for both of them.

Seriously, the whole deal about Akira fretting over Senbougi was that Senbougi admitted that even as a guy, he had feelings for Akira. He said it’s easier to act them out because Akira is in a woman’s body, which is fair enough. But in the end, it was still about gender. It wasn’t about his personality. The end has the grandfather get amnesia after he manages to unshrink Nanako’s dad (don’t even ask) – that’s when they got their original bodies back – and Senbougi takes it on as a mission to get Akira back in Nanko’s body and vice versa.

Another thing that really bothered me about this manga series was that Akira was the only one uncomfortable at the idea he’s not in his body. He’s the only one who’s making any effort to be comfortable in his own skin. Not only that, this manga shows the double standard men and women have – Nananko in Akira’s body literally slept with all the women (and arguably men) because she kept saying he’ll get sick if he doesn’t. However, Akira was not allowed to even look at Nanako’s naked body (while bathing!) because she wanted to save herself for marriage.

Not only that, literally everyone was saying, “Oh, don’t go back to your original body. Things are great, aren’t they?” In fact, Akira went to a fortune teller who said the very same thing.

I feel kind of dissatisfied with this manga only because of the problems I’ve presented. I do realize that Ai probably didn’t care about the main point of the manga (what is the main point anyway? does she even have any in her other manga?) and probably just wanted to do a gender bender just so she can have a story like that in her collection.

I did like the art though. The humor mostly comes from Akira’s reactions to the situations more so than anything but Nanako’s antics did get really trying really quickly. I feel honestly disappointed by this but I’m not sure what I really expected from a mangaka like Ai Morinaga. Another thing I did actually like was that Akira and Nanako did not get together and eventually Akira did finally let go of his crush. It started to get on my nerves though that Akira kept bringing how mean and cruel she is. We know that, already, dude! That’s how you got into that situation in the first place! But it was a nice change of pace that the two (opposite sex) main characters didn’t get together for once.

I’m not even sure if I would recommend this manga to anyone other than those who can appreciate something different and something for them not to take seriously. Ultimately, that’s where my disappointment lies:

I took an Ai Morinaga manga seriously.

I have really mixed feelings about this whole entire manga. I didn't expect it to go the way it went and I really hated the ending. Spoilers ahead..

Story 6/10: Now... The story I've seen a few time with the how body switching thing and blah blah blah but it's abit different in some parts. The story starts of strong and you thing, wow this is going to be interesting y'know! They're obviously at the end going to realise their feelings and maybe change back into their bodies and live happily ever after right? No. Instead it takes this whole different path to which he falls in love with a different guy and the girl ends up with her best friend. I really thing it would of been better if it turned into they end up together but for some reason I felt it was ruined the way it went. At the end I was like "Yes... finally they've changed back and if it ends like this something might be redeemed.." But No again. They switch back and they all end up together. For some reason I just couldn't get behind the fact that they don't end up together. Maybe it's just me but I thought it was going to end up like this and I felt really disappointed that it didn't. Other than how it ended up, it was a nice story and it had a great potential.

Art 7/10: I really liked the art and I've seen it a few times read manga now and I like how the characters were drawn. It was nice to see and nothing seemed how out the ordinary.

Character 5/10: I think I would of really enjoyed it if the guy was the ''aggressive?'' one but sadly not. I would of prefered it to be like this and have the girl be the aggressive one but it didn't turn out this way. Each character developed I think a little bit? Not alot but like a teenie weenie bit... The girl stayed the same and the guy progressed slightly by becoming a little more honest with his feelings. Not really much character develop to really comment on it.

Overall I didn't really enjoy it as much as I thought I was going to due to how it ended up but nothing I can really do from this. I'm just going to say read into this first and if possible be spoiled by the ending because I made the mistake thing that this was going to turn out really differently and was disappointed in how it ended up.

I recommend that you should stay away from this manga if you:
- strongly emphasize with fictional characters
- have alot of self-respect
- have alot of respect for other people
- have a big sense of justice
- value ideology and moral
- are sensitive

You would score the manga very low if you are interested in a deep romance.

If you are here for unique spicy, forbidden love and scandalous love triangles including yuri and yaoi and don't care for inner feelings of the characters then this manga might be a 8/10 or higher for you.

Genres: Comedy, Romance, School, Shoujo, Slice of Life, Gender Bender
This is actually wrong. Only the 1/3 part of the manga feels like that. The rest is just psychological horror for me. It contains the usual highschool arcs and usual love stuff just with genderbend and love triangle. Through every arc you experience the same pain. No emotional progress of the characters at all. At least give me some progress in a crazy negative way which completely turns the story. But it's just torture.

I liked the drawings and the story/idea and the execution was very genious IMO. But the lack of the character depth and missing character development destroyed everything without a reason. Some people might recognize something like character development. But that would just be hidden character traits which are shown later in the manga - no change, just revealing that you have shit in your undies the whole day long.

I did not give an ok score because I think that uniqueness and a special idea doesn't justify a crime.
Even if the purpose / the main point of this manga was to deliver some fanservice to the people, you could still make the story so much better with low effort. I have nothing against love triangles yuri and yaoi and soft rape. But this is wasted potential. In fact reading the manga felt like torture. It was like being forced to watch someone you don't want to be raped, raped in front of you.

I gave a 2/10 instead of a 1/10 because I think that the idea of the story and the graphical work is good.

I read this manga in one day, because I hoped for progress. But all I got was a story destroyed by stupid characters. It's basically like a bad horror movie.
