Get Love!!: Field no Ouji-sama review
This manga is really simple. There's no drama, no cliches, no harems, no incompetent protagonist. Don't expect anything crazy going down. This is a nice easygoing romance, so if you're looking for a simple cute romance comedy, this is perfect.
Other than that, the comedy is funny. The main characters make a nice couple. Their love is cute and you want to cheer them on. Most of the characters lack personality, i don't even remember most of them. Even the main characters are underdeveloped. There's no back-story, the characters for the most part don't change throughout the series, and it skips large chunks of time. This manga goes over the highlights of their relationship, not every single day of their lives like in other romances. The last complaint i got is it's really short. I would have loved it if this was 20 chapter longer. My previous complaint's are a result of this. I suppose it's simplicity is one of this manga's strength's. If you're looking for a cute uplifting romance about normal people, this is a great read. |
Get Love!!: Field no Ouji-sama review
Story (9) - I thought the story was excellent. Nothing seemed to rushed, and you weren't left hanging. I enjoyed the simple romance, and the genuine feelings the main couple had for each other. I haven't read much manga that doesn't involve some sort of love triangle or harem aspect, so it was nice and refreshing to read something that was different from that. The sports aspect added some more depth and substance to the plot I think. I enjoy sports themes as well, so it was nice to have some of that mixed in with the comedy and romance.
Art (7) - The artwork was average, it didn't really stand out to me in anyway; but was still very enjoyable. Characters (10) - I have to say that all the characters were all outstanding. Some of the characteristics of the main couple surprised me from time to time; it wasn't something I was expecting. It was a good surprise though. The other characters were hilarious, especially the senpai's. My overall enjoyment of this manga is a 10. I'd definitely read it again. I'd recommend it to someone who is looking for a good laugh with some romance and sports elements thrown in as well. |
Get Love!!: Field no Ouji-sama review
The cover is very shoujo-manga-like. From the outside, people’d think: high school, teenage love, sports, and whatever comes with it. ‘Get Love!!’ Is an interesting piece of work. Because even though it’s just that (HS, love and soccer), Ikeyamada Go manages to add that little something.
Note: sports is not the main theme of the manga but more like a part of it. Any reader without any knowledge in soccer like me should be able to follow. The story revolves around the typical Japanese high school which has various clubs, one of them being the soccer club, and has lots of female students cheering and fangirling over the hot soccer members, specially the captain, Saki. Miki Moriyama is the ordinary type of student who doesn’t get why her friends are crazy over Saki. Until that fateful day when, while the team’s practicing, there’s that one boy that catches her attention. Sagara Yuuki’s the shortest member of the team (he looks like a middle schooler), but he takes advantage of it and probes to be faster and more agile. All in all, a promising figure, fighting with all his spirit. Sagara Yuuki leaves a deep impression on Miki Moriyama, and when later on they meet at the infirmary, the wheels of destiny start to turn. They once got described in the manga as “stupid couple”, and personally, I think it really suits them. Their love is so cute and clumsy all the times. Miki Moriyama gets in situations (so familiar in shoujos) where other boys hit on her or just plainly sexually harass her, but the way they always end is surely surprising. I don’t particularly like shota, and I thought this manga would be, but there’s nothing like that. The fact that he’s short (even shorter than the girl) just adds up to his resolve and his courage, and although he’s cute, he turns “manlier” for her. The artwork isn’t the best of the best, but still beautiful and enchanting in the most crucial moments. I have to say, at one point I gave up trying to identify all the team members, since all of them almost look the same. As for the storyline, it’s easy to follow, with two (cute and funny) oneshots in the middle. All in all, ‘Get Love!!’ is an interesting, cute and refreshing manga. I really like it (haven’t finished reading), and I think I was the entire time smiling alone in front of my PC’s screen because of its sweet moments. |
