High school student Yukari Fujimaru knows a potential star when she sees one…because she sees the special "aura" they give off, in the form of angelic wings. Yukari's fellow student, the beautiful Ryouko Katsuragi, has a small pair of wings herself, and is one of these aspiring talents. She's so talented, in fact, that no one even knows that "she" is actually a boy in disguise. Now, to make her own down-to-earth dream come true, Yukari must help her new friend become a star.

Penguin Kakumei review
Wow, my heart is racing I can't believe its over. This series had me on the edge of my seat and held onto my heart through all its chapters. I wish I knew more about what happened to them after, there is so much more to the characters story than what was told in the manga. I wish there was more but there is nothing I can do about it. Great premise, not overly original but also not main stream. Thank you, is what I have to say to the author for providing us with such a wonderful story that makes your eyes water and
your heart soar... who says that penguins can't fly.

Penguin Kakumei review
I'm no expert, but many of the Shoujo Mangas I've read are completely based off of Romance (with some great exceptions) as characters fall quickly for each other. Fortunely Penguin Revolution is not one of those, and is not even very focused upon the romance of the series, instead focusing on the careers of the main characters and the business of entrainment. With this we get to see the romance develop on the side, no "oh he looks good, I think I'm in love!" is here, though the characters are all good looking, the romance is more than that. Unfortunately all you're going to get
is the development, because the series offers a terrible conclusion and is one of the major let downs of the series, and nearly made me bring it down to a six. However what you will get in Penguin Revolution is an interesting story that delves into the entrainment business and actually can thrown in surprising realistic twist at times.
The story of Penguin Revolution follows Yukari Fujimaru, a young girl who for unexplained reasons can see wings on people (?) that have talent in acting. One day she sees Katsuragi Ryouko and notices the wings on her, and later sees her getting harassed by a guy, and being talented in fights, saves her. However after some conversation, she was getting water and accidently sprays Ryouko because of the broken tap, and gives Ryouko a change of clothes she has on her. Seeing if it fits she opens the door to find that Ryouko is a man, and has to dress that way to hide his identity as an actor for the large group of male actors Peacock. She promises to keep it a secret though, as it could ruin Ryouko's career if it gets out. After her father calls her to tell her she doesn't have a house, phone, or anything else anymore as he once again screwed up in the entrainment business, Ryouko gets her a job as his manager, as she already knows his secret, and moves in with him and his famous roommate Ayaori, the highest ranked in Peacock. However Fujimaru also has to dress up as a male, as it is supposed to be a male business, and we got a Gender Bender situation already. However this series is not one of those idiotic gender bender series that recycles similar sexual situations over and over, and is fairly focused on the events in the business as it develops harem relationships, slice of life comedy, and the interesting changes from a normal rookie into an uprising star. The art is average, nothing much to speak of there. The characters in Penguin Revolution is the best part, as they are all great. From the corrupt businessman, the interesting owner, and the great main cast. They are all developed well, have their dreams for the business, whether it be for money, fame, or deeper reasons, and are all entraining. The main cast particularly with the more talkative and energetic Fujimaru and Ryouko, and the more silent and lazy Ayaori. Nothing particularly original, just an entraining group to watch, and great development and pacing. Once again though, the end is like a little group of harem styled ties as multiple people seem to want Fujimaru but God knows who gets her. Overall anyone looking for a good Shoujo series that doesn't just focus on the couple, if you actually haven't read Fruits Basket, and than this. There isn't anything particularly amazing about it, not in comedy, drama, romance, or any other genre. It's just an overall good series, with a good group of characters, and some good ideas and twists presented throught the story. |
Penguin Kakumei review
I read the whole manga. I've also read A LOT of Shoujo mangas. So with the score I gave it, I based it off of what I want in a manga.
The characters were not as likeable as I had hoped. I couldn't relate to them and I just couldn't bring myself to liking them no matter how I looked at them. I didn't care for the characters at all. Even with all that crying and acting I still didn't care. But I read all 35 chapters anyways. The plot was really around acting and I only read it b/c of that. I'm familiar of mangas like that [Skip Beat!], but Penguin Revolution didn't live up to my expectations. There wasn't even any 'romance' per say, but there was just the tension of the beginning of a romance. I'm fine with that. I really don't care. But the different conflicts in the story were plain and simple, which is fine, but they were bland. Too bland. No spark or anything to actually make me want to reread a certain part or the whole series. So yeah... 7 overall. I wouldn't recommend it, but it was still okay. |
Penguin Kakumei review
It been a while since i read this but i can still remember it as if it was yesterday. Wel,l i did read it twice.
Penguin Kakumei is a one of a kind manga. Normally a shoujo manga would showcase the MC simply loving the Love interest quite fast. Which isn't much of a plot. But Penguin Kakumei however is a very sweet manga about the MC helping the possible Love Interests. The way she is around some people crack me up so much. I could not stop shipping her. Penguin Kakumei has the happy moment and the sad moment. The more i remember it the more i want to read it again. It would be briliant if there is a second book It would be great if it become an anime |

Story: 10/10
Original, funny, with some serious moments too, this manga left me wanting more. The story line had many ups and downs, and unexpected twists, but they were all so clear that I could actually understand what was going on. Art: 10/10 The art was very good, and I'm very picky about art. It was cute and not to overly- or underly- detailed. Character: 10/10 How can you not help but love the characters in this story? With a strong heroin, working with a hopeful male actress, living with a successful male actress, all pretending to be who they are not in order to keep their jobs! Enjoyment: 10/10 I loved it so much! With a great plot, fantastic art, and almost-real characters, how could I not? Overall: 10/10 Penguin revolution is a must read for people who like shoujo manga! |
Penguin Kakumei review
Definitely liked it alot! ^_^ One of those can't put it down once you started kinda manga.. At first I was effey, because I thought (by the cover) it was about a literal penguin... but this penguin turned out to be a bishie lolz.. so are alot of the other characters hehe... The story gives off a very happy vibe. There's definitely romance that gives you tingles (the whole discovering your in love part), definetly comedy fr. the uniquenes of the characters, and a grand ending the way all manga should end. LOLZ i know i'm a cheesy reviewer.. don't hate. :P

This manga is indeed a revolution. The feelings that were expressed that made you feel like you wanted everyone to be happy, and the little details that made you understand everything. I enjoyed this manga so much, at times I couldn't breathe my heart was beating so quickly! Although the ending wasn't my optimal resolution, the content of this manga makes you forget about it. If you like shoujo, you must read this! Screw that, even if you don't like shoujo read it, because it's amazing.
