The passion to achieve your dreams and the heart that aches to love. Everyone of us have that dream we want to obtain. Everyone have that love for something that it made our hearts fulfilled once we are doing it. I love how this story stressed on this part. We, as an adult, learned to live the life the way it used to be. We go with the flow, we take our dreams forgranted because there is no room for it. Though the concept is really great, the love side is kinda fast pace from the start. And the never ending hope of the guy who loves the most on this manga has been neglected. Along the story, someone may realize how fragile love is, how someone can sacrifice his pride just for the sake of getting loved, how someone can be so immature, how they rant and how people cannot give up easily even if they've been hurt over and over again.

CHARACTER: 7

I love a senseful protagonist. Someone who is weak but keeps on moving forward. Someone with a reason. Someone with a decision of her own. Basically, it is not this one. She is moving on her own accord using her emotions, yes. She help others and wanted happiness, yes. And she revolves her world around the man she loves. This is a love story, I guess. But I've wait. I've wait till the girl realize what she wants. What her dreams are. And I've waited for nothing. In the end, she live her life for the guy. Isn't that bad? No. It's just that how can someone have no dreams of her own at all? Someone cannot grow just because they want to. Someone will grow through something they've face head on. From the start to the end, I saw a little bit of development in that area. Some characters mature, most of them do not.

ART: 9

The art is perfect on its own. The characters are cool and the emotions the mangaka wanted the readers to feel can be felt. The sad expression, the lonely one, the happy or crying face, it can be seen on this story. I'm really attracted on the kimono and I literally wanted to see a person wearing one. I wanted one.

ENJOYMENT: 8

I enjoyed it, yes, partly. The story is kinda like spinning in a roller coaster ride a dozen of times. Though the scenes changed, the feelings was repetitive. One has been hurt, one expected, one acted carelessly, one think wisely. It was like searching for a right way in a maze of emotions puzzled between the characters. The one thing that will make you think is who's gonna end up who. A reverse harem, it is.

ENDING: 7

The happy ending of the second guy is what I really love. At last, he find someone who can return the love he can give. Well, it's a given that the main characters get married and have a happy ending. That is a shoujo manga. That is what love story is. That is what most of the girls want. An ending where happiness is absolute. An ending where her and him existed.

I bought 4 volumes of Yumeiro Taiyou at a convention because there was a sale and I remember reading it online when I was younger. I originally had high hopes and nostalgic feelings upon rereading, but it was a bit more frustrating than I anticipated.


MC runs away from home and is invited to live at a home with 3 guys for little money. She basically falls in love with everyone, making it a bit unrequited love jumping festival. After one rejection, she hops on another (which is like stop it omg).


Story 6: The story has the feels, has the dreams, has the journey. If it wasn't a romance, drama manga, it'd think it would be amazing.
Art 9: I like her art style! It's different than most shoujo's and it's very realistic. It isn't cringe and over the top.
Character 7: Their stories are unique. Standard shoujo personalities. Over dramatic and outspoken, yet shy and inconsistent FMC who is nosy.
Enjoyment 6: It feels like a headache trying to ration what this girl is thinking. There are enjoyable moments and funny moments, but overall, it's such a roller coaster.

At some point or another, we’ve all wanted to run away. Be it because life isn‘t how we imagined it to be or some things are just too hard to deal with. To not have to worry about what we leave behind or maybe that’s the reason we want to leave so badly.

On very few rare occasions, you might actually do it, leave your fears and move on. When that unusual phenomenon happens, sometimes it could be the biggest mistake of your life, others times it turns out to be exactly what you needed. Even if that road is as bumpy as it is thrilling.

For Shimana, who wasn’t the happiest girl at home, that felt like the only solution. Trying to escape her loneliness she runs away from home and steps on a stranger wearing a kimono. That stranger offering her a place to live in was kind of like fate. We all know very well, fate works in mysterious ways. Fate also is a twenty one year old landlord who loves sake a little too much, but that’s besides the point. There’s a catch to his offer and it’ll depend on her meeting his three conditions.

I’m going to go straight to the point here by saying that this manga isn’t delivering the same spontaneous(ness) it starts of with. I was hopeful at the beginning, it is safe to assume that my disappointment is due to my own expectations of wanting a female lead who was more eccentric and a little more mature. I was disappointed. It’s not that it’s a horrible manga that made my eyes bleed. It’s just that it was so common and predictable it made my brain yawn. And though the main focus at first was her leaving her home, that is just a means to opening doors for this lead girl to fall in love, multiple times.

There is a not so hidden message in the manga about following your dreams, at least that’s what I read in between Shimana getting crushes on the main leads, which was a bit annoying after the first fail. I am also glad that they cleared up her running away from home and she grows a little and confronts her family as to what’s going on with her.
But, not all is lost because there seems to be a hidden back story with the landlord, who turns out to be the most interesting character thus far and has his own pack of secrets. The main set are all different in personalities yet the same. I was wondering at first if there was more than meets the eyes but it doesn’t seem to be the case. There are a lot of drifting characters that only last a couple of pages or a volume at most. All characters are likable and for those wondering there isn’t a villain per say. It’s more of life’s occurrences with a tinge of exaggeration.
Not to worry I still have hope for Shimana to become more interesting specially in regards to her mothers death since those details are obscure so far.

I enjoy my share of love triangles. Most of the time I feel they are overdone and redundant, on those times when you KNOW who they will choose and it’s just a no-brainer. Come on people Edward and Jacob? Seriously (sorry that‘s the most popular triangle out right now). With that in mind, I really hate triangles when both people are earnest and humble and one of them will have to get hurt and it‘s just so sad because you wouldn‘t mind keeping one but instead karma comes by and there he is imprinting on your daughter…

Life just isn’t fair that way but on another not so different note; What is the purpose of love triangles anyway? They rarely happen in real life and just because we all like to feel wanted and it pars with our inner egotistical personalities to feel significant (in this otherwise enormous world) and conflicted to make a choice about two guys who are too good to be real yet both want you? Well, lets just call it a rhetorical question for now.

The art is not as ordinary as the manga and was pleased to see that unless the characters are related, they don’t look the same. It is so frustrating to read a manga and not know sometimes who the heck you’re looking at. The main difference I think would be Zen, he is what stands out most in this world Ichigo created for us and next to the landlord shows great individualism aside from being borderline weird sometimes. I mean, penguins? Really….

In the words of a friend, the bottom line is that it’s worth a read and has great potential, can Ichigo deliver? That we will have to see but so far I won’t lose sleep to read this one.

Story/Characters:
Since there is already a synopsis of this story....
The one thing that really sets this story apart from others are the characters' personality and how they interact/view each other. If it weren't for that, the plot would seem a bit over done (but of course, I'd want to read it to find out the ending ^_^). In this story there is a girl who ends up living with a few guys- none of which are truly cliché. There is Taiga that reminds me of Shigure from Fruits Basket and Asahi that is actually cool "at home", but a "nerd" at school. Finally, Zen who is punk-ish, but loves pandas XD ...as of now there aren't any other characters introduced except for Zen's brother in the latest chapter.
To sum it up: Have a dream and find love.

Art:
It's very realistic and appealing. There really isn't a lot of fine detail; it's very clean and dark. Which isn't a bad thing. I really enjoy looking at it. It's not like Shinobi Life, where the art has a variety of different shading and the lines are much lighter compared to Yumemiru Taiyou- (I absolutely love Shinobi life btw; just comparing art).

Overall: I enjoyed it and I highly recommend it... but then again this is only my opinion and review of it.

This is one of my favorite mangas for the simple fact that it's so unexpectedly funny. This is only in the official English version though! If you read a fan scanlation you will definitely not experience the same nuances and comedic timing. Their facial expressions are hilarious and those small font snarky quips they make to each other made me audibly laugh at least every 5 minutes. If you're looking for a light fun manga to lift your spirits then is the one to try out.

Story: Like I said, it's really funny. However, the story itself is very cliche and their serious moments were super cringe sometimes. I had to take short breaks a few times to calm myself down from the second-hand embarrassment. But honestly, I enjoy a bit of cringe every now and then and this was a tolerable amount. If you're willing to go through the typical tropes of shoujo manga for the comedic enjoyment then I highly suggest it. [SPOILERS: The whole unrequited love chain between all the characters got exhausting at one point and the fact that it took them 5ever to get together in the end upset me a bit, but I thought it still ended pretty nicely.]

Art: I love her art! It's not the cleanest simply because it's one of her older works, but I had no complaints at all. Each panel was filled up nicely, to the point where it forced me to savor all the art because there was so much going on both story and art-wise. Very easy on the eyes and the characters were fairly attractive. Fashion sense a bit questionable, however.

Characters: Shimana can be annoying af sometimes, as she is the typical young inexperienced shoujo heroine. Her lack of ambition physically hurt me, but she was sweet and thoughtful overall. Taiga was sarcastic and majorly insensitive at times but gave the best advice and care to the housemates. Other characters had fully fleshed out backstories and ample screen time. [SPOILERS: My American self craved more physical affection from the MCs but I can't expect too much from a Japanese PG manga. I wanted Shimana to overcome her dating anxiety but the story ended with her the same as usual. I really hoped for a bit more character growth with her. MCs were still really cute together though.]

Overall, I would recommend this to people who enjoy shoujo manga since it's so unique in it's humor and attention to detail in the panels. Very cute!!

I'll be honest, I expected a really good romance manga, once I read from the beginning. Anyways, the story to sum it up, is about a girl who runs away and finds a man sleeping on the street, who soon gives her a house to live in with two other guys.

Story (4.8): It was good at first, but it felt like a roller coaster that just went up to only fall down so low. Like seriously, it had a nice premise going on but it ignores so much on the interesting parts of the story and goes on with a predictable and shallow plot. Like if you read a story about a high school girl who's trying to date someone who's an adult and against all odds they started dating, then you read this story without even knowing it. Like I said, it's predictable, you won't even need to see the next chapter to know what's going to happen. Zen deserves better than a crappy ending like this to be honest, you keep thinking that Shimana might change her mind in the end, but she doesn't, it was something that looked interesting and what almost everyone wanted but the Author probably thought to herself/himself (LOL Nah, **** you guys, just going to give you a boring and predictable couple instead). P.s Muirma and Shiho had a better story going on the background, that's how bad the story is, when a story that's barely 10 pages long overall though the whole series is more interesting than the main plot itself.
Art (8.4): That's something I'll give some praise for honestly, at first the art looked weird, because I never saw anything in its kind before, but it grew on me on the next four chapters. If you're going to read this story (God knows I won't again) then atleast give the art a chance, because its starts to grow on you also and only then you'll see how great the art is. Not super great, but the only the manga had going and that's actually unique.

Characters (2.1): This is something that the story felt very flat on, it had very good characters but the manga did no justice to any of them. We didn't get to know anything about Shimana much, we don't know who her friends are exactly, Zen is only known to be that one dude who likes pandas and draw comics, Taiga is barely known also with almost no background at all, and it just goes on. You know the story did bad when the reader only knows the names of the characters but nothing else. I wanted to know more about these characters, but at the end of the story it's like the author expects you to be happy about the climax with no in-depth at all. So yes, could've been a 8 or maybe a 9 if the author did some justice with the cast it had going on, but no, who needs background or details of the character you're trying to get invested into. By the way, some of the supporting or minor characters in this story seemed more interesting than the main cast itself which is sad itself.

Enjoyment (3.3): It was enjoying at first for the first 20 chapters, because you expect to see a great ending with the story it was telling, but no, it's torture to keep yourself going trying to get a perfect plot change that will help twist the angle the story it had going, but again no, it's like mining for gold to only get dirt, even if you keep mining farther, all you're going to get is dirt. It's my opinion honestly, I thought Shimana should've changed her love interest in the middle of the story where the plot still had its charm, and was also hoping that Taiga looked at the girls that were more interesting than Shimana herself.

Overall (4.7): God it was terrible with how it ended, I don't know how many times I'll say it, but it started so good! The premise was there! The couple we all wanted to see was there too! Why did you go with a couple that almost no one wants to see! Why! Who! Where! and When!?!?! That's all I got to say, I'll advise you to stay away from this manga, do not trust the people who gave this a 6 or above, because those ratings are criminal for this type of manga. If you want to read a manga that's just predictable or have a Adult-Teen relationship, then go ahead, this manga is just for you, because this manga was definitely not for me, but if you want to read a good romance manga, then stay away like I said, don't even look, touch, smell, hear, or think about reading this manga, because it's not good. However this is all my opinion, maybe you'll get a ten out of this crap.

After reading a bunch of titles written by this author (Ichigo Takano), I had high hopes for this title. I'm surprised this title is scored so highly, I didn't think it was THAT great (7.81 overall on MAL? Wow). I'll get to why I thought to this later...

Story: 7. It's good. I mean, it's not an emotional story. To be honest, it's much more of a slice of life than a romantic manga. It's slow, and at one point I thought "am I really going to finish this?". There's a point where I feel like I'm reading the same chapter over and over again. It didn't blow me away, and I thought (with the history of the author) there was going to be a big ending, but I was disappointed.

Art: 7. In terms of consistency, it's all over the place but this is normal for the author. You can tell when she speeds through a scene, but loves to have single shots where it's just the character straight on. A lot of people have problems with the kind of art she does (not traditional "anime eyes") but you get used to it and it just becomes normal after a while. Just know I'm not scoring this low because of the anime style, I'm scoring it low because there's some consistency issues but I'm not torn about it.

Character: 6. This was a low point for me. The story dragged for a long time, and the characters developed suuuuper slowly. I felt like the author made the story, and then didn't know how it would end and filled it with filler until she found out how to end it...

Overall, it's sort of an anticlimactic story. I'm disappointed, but if you want something to read casually and kill time on the toilet, it's not bad lol.

Now, as many of you can guess from the synopsis of the story, the very beginning is pretty cliché for a shoujo manga, which has turned many readers to drop it or just toss it away because of the overused story. But, don't do that and give this manga the second try. :)

Story: 8
Like I said, Yumemiru Taiyou starts off as many other mangas of the same genre - meeting a guy by accident and going to live with him. Now, I was hesitant at first whether to continue it or not, but I decided to do it because of the main characters. As the story progressed, I didn't really see what the main plot was except of the main female character wanting to find her love and find her dream. However, that worked out great as it slowly lead me through the everyday lives of our main characters and even made all the episodic chapters connect in a nice way. Giving it an 8 because some parts were so obvious due to them being used in a lot of other shoujos.

Art: 10
What can I say, the art is unique in it's own way and very realistic. I love the way the mangaka made the blood-related characters look alike and made all of the characters' proportions look natural (not like many other mangas). From the height differences to physique and facial expressions, art is one of the things I enjoyed the most while reading the manga.

Character: 10
The main thing that kept me reading Yumemiru Taiyou after the cliché chapter 1. At first we all got the overused characters: a cool Landlord, a sweetheart Asahi and a punk Zen. However, as the story progresses, you realise the boys are not like that at all and see them gradually change and reveal the other side of them to the female protagonist, as well as other supporting and minor characters.
Even though this is a harem manga with a big love triangle in it as well, all the characters stick together and care about their friendship more than their loves and crushes on one another. The way they're all selfless and dedicated to their friends and family is the charm of this manga. There wasn't a single chapter where I didn't got that heartwarming feeling and just wanted to hug all the characters for being such sweethearts. You can't just simply hate a character in Yumemiru Taiyou - that's just way too hard.

Enjoyment: 10
I pulled an all-nighter so I could finish the manga, so I guess that tells more than I could ever do.

Overall: 10
It's highly enjoyable and re-readable.

I recommend Yumemiru Taiyou to everybody who's looking for a manga with great characters and beautiful art and those who have, at least once, struggled to find and pursue a dream of their own.

Unpredictable storyline results in no chemistry.

At first I was confused about how it was going to turn out. The heroine´s feelings fluctuate and change rapidly. As I previously mentioned, I couldn´t sense any chemistry between the heroine and the main lead. He is very monotone, I didn´t see any emotions in him and throughout the manga it got to another extreme - his facial expressions very almost too wild and it yet again, put me off. I just couldn´t bring myself to like him.
However, I liked the fact that at first I couldn´t predict the heroine´s choice. Like I got really curious, so at least it´s not cliché.
Overall I recommend this manga, because of its art and cute encouraging moments about dreaming, but don´t have too high expectations. There are times when you might get bored, because the story focuses on irrelevant characters. It also didn´t have much action either.

Should have titled it Unrequited Love, the Manga.

If you're a fan of cliche shoujo manga, like me, then you'll probably have seen every trick in the book. (Or, manga, I guess.)

If you're that person, it'd be fine to skip this. It's very predictable, and that's fine, but it's also a longer read, which makes the cliches even more tedious to get through. Worse than that, they repeat the same cliche to a fault.

Characters are pretty dynamic, but the main-protagonist is flat, being a super typical shoujo heroine, and conflicts feel recycled, failing to make much of an impact.

Specifically, the whole "unrequited love" cliche happened to like 5 different people, like a chain of love sick homies. (Man, that sucks.) Seeing this pattern arise makes reading this story tedious.

[Sidenote: Since this is a peeve of mine.]
The 3 leading love interests treat our protagonist, Shimana, like a sort of trophy to be passed on for most of the manga, completely disregarding how she felt continuously.
[Maybe you care about details like this. I do when it's shown so bluntly.]

I think romances in manga are only as good as the obstacles the couples overcome. How much I like the protagonist affects my reading experience heavily too.

The premise in the beginning was intriguing and it lead me to believe I was going to be following every character's journey in finding their higher purpose, fulfillment, becoming more layered characters that have interests other than who they're crushing on. (Ex: Kyoko's Skip Beat, Yona's Akatsuki No Yona)

And, (sorta spoiler), in the end, the main protagonist never really finds a career or dream for herself.

Other than this, its strong points are nice art and mostly lovable characters. (6/10)

If you found yourself agreeing to some of these statements, maybe it would be fine to skip this one.
It wasn't terrible, like I'm making it seem, but it was super average. Go read Orange instead.
