Love can be obsessive. Like wanting to rip the wings off a butterfly.
Chouko has been in love with Taichiro for a long time. Taichiro and Chouko have known each other since childhood. At one point, Taichiro became very candid and told Chouko that he hated her so much that he wanted to kill her. Even so, Chouko's desire toward him never really changed. One day, a senior in her athletics club confessed to her. Filled with burning jealousy, Taichiro also confessed to Chouko. Their insecure, but very obsessive love begins.
An extra can be found inside of Yoru Koi.

Watashi no... Megane-kun review
*This review may have some spoilers.
I read this manga about half a year ago. Story: 5 Art: 8 Character: 6 Enjoyment: 2 Overall: 1 Straight to the point, this book was a disappointment. Positives: 1. Good art - The male characters were especially well drawn. - Unique art style. 2. Somewhat consistent - The character’s personality does not change(without reasons). - Was about one topic the whole time(love and the conflicts that occur while being in a romantic relationship). Negatives: 1. Rape scene - Not only does it have a rape scene, but it claims the “criminal” as being “innocent” somewhat. - The boy who raped the protagonist girl justifies himself that he didn’t know she would be inexperienced. Even if she was experienced, does that grant him an authority to rape her anyway? 2. Weak plot line - Consistency is good, but a repetitive plot isn’t a good thing. - The couple(Megane-kun and Chouko) fights the whole time throughout the book. 3. Weird ass story - The couple “loves” each other, but all they do is argue. - Random appearance of another character who likes Chouko. - As said before, had a tendency to justify criminals. - In the beginning, Megane-Kun tells Chouko that he hates her when he ends up loving her. Tf I was utterly disappointed when I finished this book because it was recommended as being a yandere-related book. To be honest, I could see why it’s yandere material, but this ain’t it sis. I mean c’mon, the character development isn’t very well written, the whole book is annoying. I wasn't expecting any rape to happen in this manga, as well as it being justified. Don’t read it if you are expecting a yandere x yandere. Megane-Kun was beautiful though. Lol Giving it a 1 overall because of the crime justification. Red flag |

Story (4) - The story is a prime example of what an unhealthy relationship looks like. It Sets itself up with some girl who goes out with a childhood friend who says he hated her for torturing him when they were younger. The story is then all about their relationship with the fact that the main girl is a track superstar effecting their relationship over time, but it's freaky as fuck and totally unrealistic okay. The story is primarily character driven so the main problem is with the characters and how they act rather than the actual plot itself, which is a relatively common shoujo
plot.
Art (9) - For as fucked up the story is the art is wonderful. It's not anything to write home about in particular, but it suits the story so well and shows male arousal so well which you usually don't' see in shoujo. It's very beautiful, yet simple art. Characters (3) - Oh god literally every single character is so fucked up I don't even know what to do. The main girl's only redeeming point is that she is a track genius, but she is so pathetic and dependent and obsessive over her boyfriend it's sickening. Every other word that comes out of her mouth is "megane-kun" which isn't even the guys actual name. Her best friend also has major problems as well, but i won't get into that. Now if you think the heroine is fucked up wait until you meet "megane-kun" this guy is a legit psychopath who goes out of his way to destroy his girlfriends life so she will only need him. It is so disturbing watching him manipulate her and everyone and her. The only mildly likable character is "megane's" rival, but even he has some weird shit going on. Enjoyment (6) - I don't understand why I find this so enjoyable, honestly, this manga is like a train wreck i can't take my eyes off of. I hate every single character, yet I still read this and mildly enjoy it. Idek, man, idek. Overall (5) - If you are looking for a messed up story about a psychopath and his needy girlfriend coupled with some really pretty art then this is the story for you. If you are looking for something mildly realistic and slightly relatable then this is not the story for you. This author for whatever reason really likes writing some weird ass kinda messed up stories, so if you want another one read S+M by this author. |
Watashi no... Megane-kun review
Story(5) - Psychotically disturbing. i never thought such a relationship would exist, the mangaka had fully tried to provide an interesting romance theme where hate is also an element of love. In conclusion the story was weird to the core.
Art(8)- Art was pretty good especially the male characters were drawn beautifully. Character(6) - Grading this was hard. Some of the characters are mindfully surprising from their actions, the female lead was very dependent whilst i couldn't understand why the male lead fell in love with her anyway. Enjoyment(7) - I enjoyed it very fairly, especially the drama. Also this is not your average shoujo, it's a little bit twisted. The tragedian air is always about when you dig deep into the story. Overall(7) - It actually gives us a message to be careful of ourselves when coming to love and also to wonder about people in we meet in general. It surely did meet the Psychological aspect more than i expected, plus has a dark feeling to it. In related to all the genres, i give it a 7 despite the weird story-line. |
