Black Bird review
The unique thing about Black Bird for me is that, I ADORED all of the side characters. In contrast, I rarely felt anything for Misao and Kyo unless I was acknowledging a cute moment between them. I want Sagami and Ayame to have their own manga. The daitengu all had awesome backstories, which could have easily spinned off into their own stories. I am glad they didn't spin off though because they made the Black Bird experience tolerable and so much better. :D

The tengu orphanage babies are lovely in every way. Misao's parents are the best as well!

I liked how the story cast a realistic light on the human falls in love with supernatural species. In many chapters Misao struggles on whether she's ready to give up seeing her family and friends so freely to move with the Tengus.

I hated Kyo's manipulative, obsessively rude moments, like wanting to force his girl to watch him kill someone. I disliked Misao at times, for listening to him! Why in the world did she make herself watch that? She also cried TOO MUCH, more than humanly possible. :p

I feel bad for Kyo's brother's loneliness, but it didn't make me excuse his previous behavior. This manga has one HUGE problem: Rapey moments are not okay! They never will be! I don't care if you are super nice the next day or the next 600 chapters, trying to rape someone, even the Senka is WRONG.

Raikou (He's a legendary pokemon haha) needed to back the chicken feathers away from Misao. That's all that needs to be said there.

Conclusion:
If you dislike this manga for it's story, you will love it for it's characters (mostly side but the main have their moments too). Some of the kissing moments are sweet.

The smutty scenes are pretty easy to skim over as well. So, I wouldn't worry too much about them. The blood isn't overly gorey unless limbs are detached, and only arms get detached! I do get squeamish when Misao tries to cut her wrists though and all the talk about drinking her blood.

The story is also super hilarious! Some of Misao's expressions have me in laughing fits. One of my favorites is when she meets Sagami's wife, or when Kyo knees Zenki in the face. XD NO, no my all time favorite is when Misao (in a rare shining moment) outsmarts a mean, former orphan girl.

One thing though if the almost-rape moments do not all the way turn you off, a later scene that could be perceived as child abuse may. With context it's understandable but still unsettling

Overall, due to some smutty scenes I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but it is an interesting read. I finished it within a week because I was binge reading it. The story sho' will keep you turning pages!

Black Bird review
Black Bird, to me, was a huge disappointment.

Story (6):
The only likable part of this manga is the supernatural aspect. Other than that, there's nothing much to say. A girl who possesses special power and is in danger and a guy who protects her, with some rape scenes here and there. I would like to point out that the thing I dislike about Black Bird is how weirdly pace it is. New chapter. Boom. Out of nowhere new character(s). Some parts feel random and unconnected to the actual main plot. Other parts feel either rushed or totally pointless.

Art (8):
The art is pretty nice and unique, not too sparkly or too dull. Characters are well drawn and the guys are super attractive. (Don't have much to say -_-)

Character (4):
The heroine is worst part of the manga. Usually I can tolerate her type of chara, but this girl is truly annoying and idiotic. She cries about everything, happy, sad, horny. She's so damn insecure and doubtful, keep going on about if Kyou really like her and if it's really the right choice to be his wife. Not only that but she's also ungrateful. She never listens to Kyou due to her stupid stubbornness, and as result bringing danger to herself and people around her. I swear she's the reason for every single problem in this manga. Well, I can go on and on about her, but thankfully Kyou and the other characters save the day. Pretty much the only reason I kept reading was because they were cool, interesting, and not annoying like a certain someone.

Enjoyment (5):
Did I enjoy it? I will say that this manga was somewhat enjoyable to read if you can put past all the flaws this manga has. It's one of those silly manga you read when you don't really have anything else and want to kill some time. Whether you can successfully read all of the chapters is an entirely different story.

Overall (5):
Do I recommend Black Bird?
Uh I guess? It didn't really exceed my expectations, but it's not terrible ether. If you're interested in reading then I think you should give Black Bird a try.

Black Bird review
Story (3): 16 year old girl can see spirits, some demon falls in love with her, who turns out to be her childhood friend...guy forces girl to fall in love with her to save his race or everyone blah blah blah.

Art (5-6):Its decent, not the worst I've seen..I've definitely seen better but not necessarily painful to look at.

Character (1):Oh god, don't even get me started with the characters...Misao is a very whiny pathetic crybaby, She had to be one of the weakest female chars I have ever seen/read...yeah..sure, I get that shes going through a lot, But seriously...she needs to get over it..and stop being so damn insecure, she is the very reason why I am contemplating dropping this manga...I seriously hope she dies, or at least toughens up and stops crying every other 2 damn pages. Kyo is just a damn pervert stalker, who attempts to molest her often. yeah, hes trying to protect her, but wtf. and I don't really remember any of the other chars due to their unimportance.

Enjoyment (2): It started out decently enough, but as I'm getting further along Misao is just becoming more and more irritating and just becoming even more of a whiny crybaby then before. I'm finding it physically and mentally more painful to proceed any further in this manga. and I hate dropping things, I often try to finish them often.

Overall (2): Reading this has probably been an equivalent to jumping off a cliff onto sharp jagged rocks and somehow surviving, while slowly laying there and bleeding out to death...I'm sure I would prefer that way more then to have to get through one more chapter of this crap.

Black Bird review
Harada, Misao is a sixteen-year-old chick (16! Oh, what a surprise!), in highschool (two surprises already, I don't know how many more surprises I can take!) and can see freaky mumbo jumbo (spirits, demons, ghosts, you name it: she saw it) and then pops up Usui, Kyo who then becomes her teacher *SURPRISED gasp* (although this fact is forgotten later on in the story... Somehow) and tells her he's her childhood friend and that she has to marry him or risk getting eaten by fellow youkai.

"I thought I was having a nightmare" said main protagonist, you thought YOU were having a nightmare, I KNOW I was having a one. The story was rubbish, it was like sticking your head through a wood chipper; it was a make-out fest with villains that weren't really villains; more like friends who badly tried to act as villains. It was flat, it was a sickly sweet romance story that would make anyone barf. Seriously, how many "I am your childhood friend that you have forgotten about but I have never forgotten about you, now let's snog" stories does one have to get through to find a good story: a billion? Annoying doesn't seem to even begin to describe the book. It's all about saving the day from a main antagonist to the next, YAAAY! And then it goes from a miserably cheesy love story to talk of conspiracy, did I miss something?

Okay, here's the deal, the main character Misao or whatever her name is, is a major crybaby and that would be an insult to all crybabies out there. When she's sad, she cries; when she's happy, she cries; when she's making out, she cries; when she goes to the bathroom and realises there's no toilet paper, she cries. I swear with the amount of crying the characters do in this Manga, now, I know the real reason behind rising sea levels and it's not global warming. This girl needs therapy, she hangs out with her lover/childhood friend every damned second, and he's spying over her if she's anywhere than not by his side but hey, that isn't the problem here. It's the comeback of the ' does he love me? *blush* *blush* ' problem.

I.N.S.E.C.U.R.E.

The art was the kind of art where if you find five pointy things coming out of an oval, you had to presume it was a hand. No details whatsoever. The fight scenes were like 'Kill Bill', it was like a blood fountain even if it was just a paper cut. And the fact that the characters and the story were awful, you kinda expect it to be this way but is there no hope for exquisite illustrations anymore?! I guess so; for every million books you read, you'll find 1.5 books that have good art. Why 1.5? Because my calculator says so.

Did I enjoy it? If you actually got to the wood chipper part of my review, you'd probably have thought no and your right. Throughout the Manga I was begging for someone to put me out of my misery, which no one obliged; so obviously a bucket of bloody wood chips down and a couple of thumbs too.

Black Bird review
This is one of the manga that when I read, I know it is just a fiction. I keep reminding myself that, too. Otherwise, it will be very annoying and absurd. How come you lick a girl's neck without her consent just because she agreed to marry, when she was a toddler? Totally unacceptable! So, put aside common sense when reading it. Of course, it is hard, but chapter after chapter, we get to know this story about love and how preserve it. In this case, how to preserve your loved one. The youkai world is nasty and harsh, blood spill everywhere on a whim, yet this one guy/thing, Kyou Usui, turned out somewhat right. He is loving and protective to the ones he care about and adamant on protecting what he needs and he wants. Misao, is what he needs and wants and thus he fiercely protects her. He could have just eat her and be eternal yet that is not what he had in mind.

Surely, Misao deserves to live her own life but she keeps thinking about this boy who she vaguely remembers as her first love. Was it Kyou or Shou, nobody will ever know, but she surely decided that it is Kyou. She was already hopelessly into this idea of "Kyou" her first love, so when he returned and turned out to be a handsome male adult with extraordinary power and one goal in mind: to marry her, that is just like a hattrick moment for her. He waited for her to be voluntarily 'married' to after many attacks and hindrance.

His actions before they finally together, however, is like he already has her, yet it is not the case. But since she was attacked by demons right from the beginning of the series, she gradually believes that she needs a protection from a very powerful being. He believed it also and that is why he strive so hard to be the leader of his clan so his beloved Misao cannot be vanished just like that, after being captured by other demons. He knows that it is unavoidable and he knows that his brother Shou, the original clan leader, was so abusive and cold. Kyou cannot let Misao into Shou's hands after seeing that little Misao got slapped by Shou just because he gave her the mud balls (although we do learn that it is NOT the mud that made Shou angry). In order to protect Misao, he sets his mind to beat his older brother and be the clan leader. So, first lesson is you must be strong or have power in order to protect your loved ones.

Second lesson is that, in love, there must be an equally great give and take. It is symbolize by the senka power that lies inside Misao's body. That power can only be used by youkai or demons and other supernatural beings, and useless to humans. I am referring all this from the story of the last chapter. The senka power is so great on youkais that they can do unbelievable things, including bring their loved ones to life after death.

At the end, it is a very nice love story.

Black Bird review
I enjoyed every aspect of this manga. From the fantastic art to the amazing charqcters, it was a ten across the bored for me.

Art: The art is one of my favorite parts. As the plot is character based, it's obvious that they would get the most detail. The characters are all stunning and perfectly drawn in a way that their facial expressions convey their every emotion. To me, the most outstanding features are Misao and Kyou's gazes. Misao's gaze is generous and soulful whereas Kyou's gaze is hard and flinty. The contrast between the two really play on each other. It's also wonderful to see how Kyou's gaze softens only for Misao.

Characters: I love the two main characters. They compliment each other perfectly. Kyou is chivalrous but he has a hilarious perverted side. His snarky comments really liven up the serious situations that are abundant throughout the series. He reminds me of Damon Salvator for The Vampire Diaries. As long as Misao is safe, he doesn't care if the rest of the world burns. Misao is often accused of being weak but I think it's the exact opposite. Her strength is displayed via the fact that she is a normal girl placed in an extremely abnormal situation. Who wouldn't cry? I cry at tv commercials so darn right I would cry in all those situations that Misao gets into. Misao is also extremely selfless and cares much more about those around her than she does her own welfare. While not traditionally booksmart, Misao is very good with people and picking up on the emotions around her.

All in all, I really loved this series and would like to read others like it.

Black Bird review
Black Bird is a enticing, erotic manga written for anyone who likes forbidden love . No not any of that Twilight Crap D:

Black Bird is a story a girl named Misao who sees spirits and deals with the constant struggle of them and the reoccurring dream of a boy saying "Come be by my side" After a long day and hating life she comes home to find him !( Kyo )And he's hot !!! What she did not expect was that he was a tengu prince and that all these demons are after her to either eat her or bed her! He was coming to take her away to be her bride. ( If it was me I would be Hell yeah!!! )

Kyo and Misao's love is full of danger and every turn they are at risk of being killed but she is willing to risk it to be with Kyo

In my opinion she isn't a dumb bimbo who waiting for that be my bad boy tengu thing :P And Kyo is serious but yet hilarious in a perverted way. The side characters are the icing on the cake adding innocence and funny things otherwise the whole thing would be full drama . Warning though I advise you are kinda mature to read this because if you are like a 12 year old it might shock you O.o They kinda get down and dirty a ton but keep saying they can't go all the way. It's sorta annoying because then I feel like I'm reading porn but the other side of me says "JUST DO IT ALREADY ITS GETTING ANNOYING !"

all in all this is a great book and you need to get it XDDD

ps if you don't know what a tengu is it's a demon that is human or sometimes a bird person who is the demon of a black bird or crow. Their is different interpretations of it but I like the black bird way X3 Also Tengu's are supposed to be my demon it turns out lol
