Slow to begin with, and the conclusion will divide readers (I wasn't satisfied.)

The characters are varied in design but in terms of personalty aren't that great, with them either being bland or too "edgy" to really hit home.

Also, some actions and motives from the characters are either stupid/don't make sense or are easily forgiven.

But it does hit its groove and peak in the middle and the story an interesting premise with a lot of potential that doesn't quite get realised.

Overall, this isn't an impressive manga but it's not a complete waste of time. So it's at least worth checking out and seeing if it grabs you.

Y'know? The story and overall idea of this manga's story is very cool and interesting but I just can;t stand the psycho and yandere characters. They just went way overboard crazy and I wasn;t able to quite finish it. The story is cool, the art is average, the characters aren't very good at all, and I didn't find much enjoyment in this one.

Overall, I didn't like it. I'm glad for all the people who found entertainment in this but it's just not my style.

This manga tells the story of Amano Yukiteru, a social outcast who records everything he sees in his cellphone. Out of desperation, he has generated an imaginary friend to accompany him, Deus Ex Makina, the lord of time and space. Deus, who sympathize with the boy decided to give him the his cellphone's an ability to foresee the records that he will make on the future. Little did Yukiteru know, that comes great power, comes another eleven Diary Holders(people who have the ability to predict the future) who can do the same thing. To Yukiteru's dismay, this is the beginning of a horrific game.

And to top it all off, each diary holder has a different prediction of the future.
Yuno, Yukiteru's mentally demented stalker, has the prediction to see what happens to Yuki in every ten minutes and the rest(dont wanna spoil it).
If you wanna get a better idea on what Mirai Nikki is, then think of it as the offspring of Battle Royale and Death Note.

Mirai Nikki is a genuinely chilling dissection of how willpower can alter fate itself.
In my opinion, Mirai Nikki emphasises how small the characters are and how oppressed they are within their surroundings. It tells us how trust is even better than predicting the future, as the future is not always what it seems to be.

This is no ordinary shounen, but one that aspires to be an epic, and it definitely is for the genre. It is the overall experience of, Mirai Nikki, however, that makes it such a great manga. The slow pace at the start is actually an asset, because it gradually grows momentum as Yukiteru discovers the real reason behind the future diaries, until the manga totally takes off in it's main premise and turns into a fun house of horrors.

It is deliberately paced, but endlessly creepy, horrifying manga. Suspense is a key element in the manga. There is a sense of walls closing in, something approaching, getting closer and closer. An atmosphere of deep foreboding emanates from each diary holder, unaware of what each identity and motive are, it is disturbingly stirring for both Yuki and the reader.

The art is not really appropriate to the cold and oppressive mood this manga intended it to be but then again, so as most horror manga's. The style is vagrant, it can convey the situation very clearly and the captions are simply oozing with palpable texts. The suffering of each diary holder is also depicted exemplary not to mention the bloody good morbidity.

Mirai Nikki is also very much thought-provoking. It is also a manga not easy to forget, and proves that when done well enough, and with a great deal of care, a horror, psychological manga can rise to a plane all its own. This manga is still publishing and so far, it hasnt lost its touch......yet.

I am deeply impressed with the scare it gave me and even the meticulous but sometimes over the top, psychological warfare of the Diary Holders. I recommend it to anyone who wants either horror or psychological without reservation.

the 2 main characters are yuki and yuno. the plot is about diaries (usually in the form of hand phones) which can tell the future with each having its own special functions (e.g. yuki can predict what happens around him but not him while yuno can predict what situation yuki is in every 10 minutes).
A great manga to read, yuno is the pyscho girl with the hidden past. yuki is the naive and weak main character but sometimes shows his hidden strength. all the characters are unique and the story has many people back stabbing each other and using tricks. great story, not bad art and all around interesting series.

I’m so torn. This manga really is awful. Like, really truly awful. It has no sense of balance, no sense of clarity. The whole thing is a huge shitshow of epic proportions.

But holy MOLY is it entertaining.

I think part of that does come from what little merit the manga has. You know what I’m talking about. So I’ll say it like this; Yuno is a fun character at the best of times, and an even more fun character at the worst of times. Why? Because when she’s played for horror, it’s downright hysterical. We see whole pages and panels of her bright, happy face either before or after she just cut someone down with an axe, or tied the protagonist up in a chair, or shot up a group of people with a fucking assault rifle; and given the enormous lack of awareness that’s dripping from every page, I can only assume these scenes are supposed to give the reader the creeps... but it fails so hard at that it comes full circle into being hilarious. We’ve hit “so bad it’s good” territory.

But the manga also has scenes of tension that, on some level, aren’t entirely flawed. Yukiteru is a whiny baby boy, but he’s juuuuussst normal enough to be a somewhat relatable character (ouch, did I out myself?), so it’s possible to give the scene stakes when his life is at risk—obviously I don’t expect the protagonist to die in volume 5 of a 12 volume manga, (especially when he’s, y’know, constantly rewriting time itself) but because of this seeping lack of awareness, I feel like the artist was just doing his best.

However, his best is still a plot that makes absolutely no sense. None at all. Not even a little bit. It’s hard to give a death game premise gravity in the first place, but Future Diary really does grab the concept by the feet and spin it around and around until the poor thing throws up. How the fuck did Yuno get machines and gallons of concrete to fill some pit? How the fuck did she dig such a deep hole? Why the hell did God pick a bunch of random ass people to take his place in a pointless murder game? How did some random ass woman plant a bajillion explosives throughout an entire middle school? And why on EARTH did life return to normalcy for the kids involved afterward? (Don't even get me started on the big twist). This manga is just absurd. And for what it’s worth, it’s not the prettiest thing either.

But make no mistake: I have no regrets. I bought it. I read it. I intend to keep it on my shelf. I don’t think I wasted my time, despite all of its flaws. Terrible writing is better than mediocre writing, in a way, because it can be great popcorn material. That's what Future Diary is. The occasional glimmer of real effort through a curtain of "so bad it will make you laugh." But holy yikes on a bikes, pick something else if you’re looking for nuance.

Okay, now, I know I'll certainly get a lot of people who'll dislike this right now only for the low rating. But holy potatoes, this manga is one of the most overrateds I've ever seen. And with this I hope I can get someone not to waste their time reading the manga Mirai Nikki (or Future Diary, whatever you want to call it).

Now, let's begin the review. Well, first of course I'm going to say what I think about the story, and there's not much to say about it really. It isn't good, it's far from that. The manga had everything to be very good, but it screwed everything up. And when I mean everything, it is everything, from plot to characters. I found it interesting when I read, at least the beggining. But... Dude, the story develops in a very weak and forced way, that makes it almost a non-sense plot.
The way that violence and murder is treated during the story is just ridiculous, and completely useless. I even think the manga would be better if all the non-sense fighting and carnage were abscent from it almost completely. Look, I understand it is a survival game, where you need to kill people. But, seriously... At first I was surprised in seeing that the manga would focus more on the intelectual side (plans, strategies and such). But, of course, I was wrong. Because it only focus during the first few chapters, turning then into a game where you only make a plan full of flaws and then kill someone that also was chosen for the survival game.

The story has indeed strong points, like some of the mysteries involving the game itself and lots of other things which would be spoilers, so, I would usually tell you to go read and find out what those mysteries were, however, don't do that, please. Even if they are something that sorts of pushes you into reading more, when you find out it is in a strange way that doesn't actually surprises you like in most stories out there.

Also one thing that truly irritated me was the fact that the characters were just horrible. Literally, horrible. Yukiteru (the main character) was ridiculous, annoying, and looked like a crying baby almost all of the time during the beggining of the manga. And when you think he'll slowly develop his personality, what happens? Nothing. And suddenly he changes into a strong boy who can handle weapons and kill lots of men with Yuno. That's just ridiculous. It would've not seem strange if the development of the character wasn't sudden or it could've been "hidden" underneath the story if that one was actually good.
Then we have Yuno Gasai, the only great character in the story, but she couldn't save it of course. Her personality is very interesting even for me, who personally doesn't enjoy yandere that much. Her strange affection for Yukiteru can be odd sometimes, and even annoying, however, it is interesting and, of course, odd in a good way. But, unfortunately, she wasn't able to save the manga in my opinion. But of course without her I wouldn't be able to give a 5 as the rating.
Then, apart from Yuno (and Uryuu who I will talk about in a momment) all the other characters are dumb and have no depth on their personalities at all, even if a few may seem appealing some times, like Akise who wanted to be a detective, and was supposed to help on the intelectual part of the story, and also, the terrorist Uryuu Minene who was meant to have a tragic and sad past, but we cannot feel much about her, since this past isn't worked a lot during the story. However she probably is a, let's say... Medium-Good character that I personally cared a little about for.

And also, I would like to point that out: I didn't care for any character except from Uryuu and Yuno. Literally, when a character died, I showed no emotion for them, it doesn't matter who it was. Characters are the weakest point in Mirai Nikki, without a doubt.

The ending of the manga totally screwed up. It is a completely stupid, dumb and ridiculous plot-twist with no basis. A manga which could have a medium-quality story ended up with an ending that was just baseless. The first plot twist is just dumb, but tolerable. However, after what we all should think was the ending, there's the thing that just crushed the story in pieces and was only for those who want every story to have a stupid cliche ending.

Moving now to a different topic, we are going to talk about art. Well, the art of the manga is not bad, and not surprising. It is okay in most parts, mediocre in others and can even impress a little on... Oh no, sorry, it doesn't surprise you. Most fights on manga and anime are made with dinamic movements and poses that gets you excited to see what more that fight is going to present you. Not in Mirai Nikki. Though the explosions are pretty well drawn - something that is, in most mangas, pretty simple and sometimes unrealistic - the rest of the fights doesn't pushes you on to wanting to know more about everything that is happening. They are not exciting, not well-drawn at all from an artistic point of view, and also, are most of the times useless to the story to develop, and only are put there to prolongue it more and more.
The character designs aren't bad, but aren't very good. That is what the art presents, it's nothing awesome or stunning, but also it isn't just blurry images or characters and shade-less images like lots of shounen manga today (you probably know which ones I'm talking abou).

But of course, the art didn't count much for me to give the final score, so the bad storyline, awful characters and the abscence of excitment and stunning mysteries still overthrow the somehow good art the manga presents.

Well, since there is nothing too much about the story, the enjoyment truly isn't something I can give a high rating. I have to admit I enjoyed the manga for the first few chapters, however, that was the time where I had no experience with actual good anime and manga except for Death Note and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebelion, so, after I discovered great anime and manga I also discovered that Mirai Nikki was nothing but an "okay" series.

Overall: 5/10

All in all, Mirai Nikki isn't great in any of its aspects, okay on the art, mediocre on the story and awful on the characters the plot shows the readers, us. It is completely overrated, and people shouldn't be reading manga/watching anime like this one, because there are a lot of short ones that presents a much deeper storyline, better characters and outstanding art.
No, I don't reccomend Mirai Nikki (neither manga, neither anime) to anyone who is reading this review, search more for other anime and manga, because this one is only going to get your time wasted. And please, don't spend money on buying volumes from this. I'm trying to help you, but well...

If you're a fan of the series, and you are reading this review, well, I'm pretty sure you're going to click the "not helpful" button. And if you wish, you can do that. Just don't considerate the final rating as a review, I tried my best to talk about each and every aspect of the manga, saying the good points and bad as well.

What do you get if you cross Higurashi, Death Note, and Battle Royale? Well, something like this. First of all, we have our main character, a boy who uses his cellphone as a personal journal, writing in it everything he sees. He has no friends, or at least no real ones, or so he thinks.
In his mind, his" imaginary friend" the god Deus Ex Machina reveals to him that (CHAP.1 SPOILERS) he is real and gives him to power to see the future through his cell phone. However, he is not the only one to receive these powers, and he must team up with a crazy stalker girl (more on her later) and a seemingly nice cop if he wants to survive.

The art is one of the only gripes I really have with this series. While some things are beautifully illustrated, such as the God, some character designs felt....lacking, like they just stopped trying to make each character look good. However, this is not very noticeable, and will definitely not hinder you from enjoying the series as a whole.

Ah, the characters. Some of the characters (such as our oh so weak and helpless main lead) are not very likable. However, these characters (yes, even him) get stronger as time goes by.
One of the first REAL characters we are introduced (excluding the god and his little chibi friend) is an insane girl who uses her Future Diary to stalk our main character. They then proceed to have what I like to call an "on and off relationship" where he gets freaked out or angry every time she does something batshit crazy.
Throw in a cute girl terrorist, a cop with unknown intentions, and a dude who may or may not be gay, and who have a somewhat lovable cast.

I can honestly say that I am enjoying this series. The multitude of interesting characters are quite fun, and most of them never seem to get old.The phycological aspects work well (by the enemies AND the female lead) And while this is a shonen manga, it is much more fun and enjoyable that many other mangas I have read, and I hope it gets an anime adaption in the future.

Mirai Nikki [future diary]

Story - 8: The story of Mirai Nikki is really not that creative in my opinion. There are 12 people with cellphones that give them hints about the future. These are called Future Diaries. Once the main character is awakened to his power, he is soon faced with all 12 holders of Future Diaries hunting him. This is definitely a good setup for a tense plot, the only problem is that the situations are often greatly devised, but when it comes to combat, things go really poorly most of the time. The mangaka can definitely write the fights in a way that makes the characters as vulnerable as a normal person rather than having fictional levels of endurance. An attack with a knife would easily mean death.

The Future Diaries are fun because the text shown on them is often fun to read (except for that confusing "I'm golden" "I'm shining" nonsense) and it makes things a bit of a mystery. It is definitely very difficult to tell who the next diary holder is, but these people are often adjusting their allegiance based on what works best for their survival and it makes things unpredictable.

The problem with the fights is that they almost always go to the point of no return, but the main characters manage to be at random places and survive or the enemies are made too one-dimensional after they have gone on the defensive. The absolute worst of the diary holders is the "Power Rangers" style guy. He added nothing to the plot and his character was really fake and he was defeated before he did anything. Then came the fighting couple, which somehow only count as one diary holder (without a real explanation). They are the most stereotypical kickass couple ever and they have a bunch of nonsense tests for the heroes to go through effortlessly.

A bigger problem later on is when the chapters transition to a completely unlinked scene. When I had pretty much given up on this manga, I was going to skip through, but that was the very chapter where they had almost awesome fanservice in a completely unexpected situation. I thought I missed a chapter, but there was no warning that the event would happen. It does not even make sense for Yuno (the shitty yandere) to have done it at all because she was never psychotic with Yuki around.

Art - 8: The character designs are really awesome. Yuki seems like a normal kid, but he looks more effeminate than almost any male we've seen in a manga and he wears a very well-designed jacket. His outfit just gives off the empty feel that is suppose to reside with his character. Yuno is like tailor made in her appearance. She is made taller than Yuki and she also has the face of Jeffrey Dahmer (trust me, she does) which actually looks really cute on her and perfect for a yandere. She looks a lot more natural than pretty much any manga/anime character.

The rest of the 12 holders look really fun. These people all look like Halloween monsters (except the first opponent) but they are actually scarier, or more unsettling than any scary movie creation I have seen before (besides Freddy, of course). The only bad design seems to be that of the little kid (unfortunate since he is probably the best among these characters). His clothing is just too overdone, but he would otherwise have been fine. The best design either goes to the detective, or the mother, who both look quite deformed in a very stylish way that just oozes personality.

The backgrounds are not detailed too much, or at least they looked to flat to be memorable. However, there are quite a few details in the background and anything having to do with fire looks fantastic (which is thankfully a lot).

Character - 4: Unfortunately, the main couple, the child and Akise seem to be the only good characters as far as chapter 33. There are many characters introduced which seem like they would become more fun as time went on, but they are not developed.

Yukkiteru is often a point of criticism, but he is not an inconsistent character at this point. In the beginning, he does indeed have friends, but he is increasingly absorbed into writing life stories into his cellphone. It is Yuno who is first to break his social isolation and when Yuki returns to his friends, he soon finds that he can no longer appreciate them at all, despite him being afraid of commitment with Yuno. He is trying to escape Yuno because he knows she's a killer and it does not feel safe for a sane person, even a previously lifeless one, to live their life with one.

The greatest trait about Yukkiteru is that he is a very submissive character most of the time and that is extremely uncommon in a male character in anime or manga. You never find a character like Yuki who feels like life is pointless unless they are rebellious and boisterous on the outside or soon destined for a magickal adventure.

Yuno seems to be pretty much the purest yandere character besides Nu from Blazblue. However, Yuno is a huge failure and because so much of the book relies on your appreciation of Yuno and her flaws are not very forgivable to me.

Most people would not find flaws with Yuno because she is such an apparently edgy character which makes a great love interest and she apparently is like a serial killer. However, she really does not kill many people at all in this manga. The plot is almost always about avoiding Yuno killing people at all. She fails because her character feels like a cop out whenever she should be going into a murderous rampage. Instead, she is extremely sensitive and romantic and not much else besides a lot of false threats and a standard shounen fighter. All of her kills are nullified by the fact that they were a just cause or the fact that the diaries were designed to make bloodless deaths possible. (RIDICULOUS!!!!!)

It just feels like Yuno is not trying to kill people and she is just very knowledgeable and trying to keep Yuki alive. It is extremely disappointing and fake.

The child with the diary who visits Yuki is a really fun character because it is pretty much the only time Yuno is made to feel like a real Yandere. The kid is just as insidious as Yuno is supposed to be and since Yuno can sense that the kid is evil, a lot of good scenes happen. The best part is that it is a kid that Yuno is trying to hurt. It is also super fun to see him playing with Yuno so effectively and they seem like a really good match in talents, almost making it seem like this could really be the end for one of the good guys.

Otherwise, there are pretty much a bunch of characters who feel too cliche and are likely similar to characters you have seen somewhere else, but without as much depth. Deus Ex Machina and his servant are really, really stupid characters so far and almost made me not want to go to the second chapter.

Enjoyment - 6: While Mirai Nikki should be enjoyable for a lot of people, those who came to see a real Yandere should be highly disappointed. Yuno just felt more and more like she was stealing the plot and she is the character most people liked in the first place. This makes it really hard to concentrate on any new ideas they introduce when you keep hoping that Yuno's character might finally be done right for once, only for them to just tease you for a whole chapter without any real scenes to give her a chance. Perhaps, there will never be a good Yandere. The relationship between Yuki and Yuno still makes up for this problem enough, but it would have been much better if Yuno actually killed or hurt people or even animals.

Really, nobody should be too disappointed if they are able to not care that much about Yuno. However, there are still those character moments where they seem so shallow and memetic that you get terribly annoyed that they even exist. And then, there are scenes that seem to not take a logical course of action, which makes it hard to really immerse yourself in the action or suspense, which is a potentially huge flaw.

Overall - 6: Up to chapter 33, you probably will wish that you never read this because you will be pretty much addicted to the end if you are not sensitive to how much compromise you are going through.

This manga is a definate favorite for me because of two things. The first is that overall this manga is addicting and it's enjoyable. The second is that it is one of the few longer and not completed manga series I actually can read over and over and still not get tired of reading it. Another important factor for making this a sucessful book is the mystery, action, and the horror plot it is based on. The characters are what really gets the story going because the author does not go too indepth with the characters and with the ones that should be more indepth, you learn more about them over the range of the series and little by little you learn more about them, which gives the characters and the plot more of a puzzle like storyline.

This manga is legend , although many people have different view but for me it was .
Overall the story was excellent . The mystery will keep you reading it more and more with brilliant character background ,development and mystery .

The story is about Deus ex machina , God of space-time ,He's dying and need to choose his succesor so he organizes a battle royale involving 12 participants and give them the ability to see future events in the form of diary notes .

ALthough there is some comedy but its mainly psychological mystery with many gruesome scenes , so avoid if your underage . Its anime adaptation is also excellent with great voice actors especially for Gasai Yuno .
The only thing it falls behind is some plot holes in ther series world mechanics and some unexplained events , but siding that its still an excellent read .

Being a reader with varied interests, I found myself downloading this series because it is finished and it's been a while since I've read something with a yandere on it. I had nothing to do, and since I've downloaded all of it, I read it all in one go knowing that I would feel guilty anyways if I don't.

Well, it is not very regrettable, but it's quite disappointing.

I have no complaints on the art. It is not the best, and this kind of art is not really my type, but it suited the series as it should be. Akise's the only bishie there (well, in my opinion) and so there are less "kyaa-ing" around for fangirls and more focuses on the story. Gasai, violence and bloodbath? Oh oh oh, they are sooo good. The art is enough to satisfy your gore-loving nature.

The story is very good actually. The God of Time and Space is nearing his death and so he makes a game of survival in which the last one standing will succeed him and become the next god. Decent foundation. The God of Time and Space aka Deus Ex Machina is the imaginary friend of the outcast Amano Yukiteru who writes on his diary about his surroundings because he has nothing better to do. Then one day, Deus Ex Machina gives him a future diary which records about the future and Yukiteru will be one of the contestants. Decent introduction to the essence of the series. But why did I not rate it a 10 or 9? The characters are to blame for that.

I find Akise and Rea the only likeable characters there (yes, Akise again). The others are annoying. Why? Well, here goes:
Yukiteru's annoying from the very start. He brought upon himself the current social status he has and then he goes crying like a baby. For the whole game, he is a coward who relies on Yuno because he is so worthless. His resolve doesn't have the right to be called a resolve because he is easily wavered by the words of other people and his shitty feelings. Yuno is an idiot in love. Minene's so annoying because she always say "I, the Great Minene" even when it's only her thoughts. Nishijima all of a sudden fell in love with Minene. I must say, Minene and Nishijima's character development is so ridiculous. It's like the mangaka just forced it in and he really didn't thought of it before. The same goes for other characters.

Well people, please don't judge me. I normally love evil characters like Gasai. I normally go "oohh" or "whoa" in a good sense when there are character developments.Even I can't explain why I suddenly hate almost all the characters. The only explanation I could think of is that the characters are very shallowly developed and I can't feel them at all. You know the feeling of sympathizing with the characters? I didn't feel it at all while reading this. Even when Yukiteru experienced that tragedy or Gasai experienced that abuse. I was in pokerface mode for all the hours I've read this. The only scene that really made me stay on one page is the Akise-Amano kissing scene where I squealed for like 5 minutes.

Okay, I enjoyed the manga at some point but it's just really disappointing. It is a good read, and I recommend it for gore lovers. But it's definitely a no-go for those harsh anime and manga reviewers who will clearly look into the series and list all the loopholes they find because they are going to have a long list if they do.

the irony that could perhaps describe mirai nikki would be when the audience becomes part of the play.

12 diary holders have been chosen to participate in a deadly game in which the one that would become victorious would become god. in order to win, they must fight each other, killing them or destroying their future diaries until only 1 is left.

these diary holders are normally the ones who would record their daily observations in life. some of them are reluctant to put their shoes on other people's business yet the others are participating on the events that they have seen yet only acting as a minor role, making them very much like audiences of a play. the irony strike when deus, the god of time and space, selected these 12 observers and placed them on the center stage.

it is here that we find out the lifestyle of each participant. yuki, for example, acts like a nonchalant bystander recording his observations on his daily life. he records what he sees, what he experiences in his diary. yuno on the other hand records the actions of her crush on her diary. her thoughts about him when she sees him and her thoughts when he's out of her sight. the other diary holders have their normal diaries related to their liking.

the 4th participant for example writes down his thoughts on his investigation while the 9th writes down how he has escaped the police. the deal is, when deus chose the 12, their diaries have been upgraded, enabling them to read down what they would write after a certain period of time has elapsed.

i think the main premise of the manga would be causality and its effect. how people can change the events that would be and how humans can change the inevitable by willpower. but it also delves on the human psyche. the thoughts of each people written down on their diaries would eventually reflect their inner self but shroud their appearance. not everything seen to the naked eye is what they really seem in their truest form.

a psychological manga that deals with how each of us views our daily life and how one can make change, one way or another, only if we are willing to change ourselves.

Mirai Nikki, also known as Future Diary, is one of them psychological related stories which intrigued me when I heard of it many times and decided to read it in a very short amount of time.

The story of Mirai Nikki revolves around the Future Diaries, all having a special skill which sets that specific Future Diary apart from the others. Throughout the story, I saw how well done it was with how the Future Diaries were used and how sometimes, you could anticipate what would happen next but it would still surprise us a bit. What intrigued me the most about the story wasthe numerous twists and turns we witnessed which made us ask just what the heck was going on in this story. True, there is a lot of killing throughout the manga but it had meaningful killing such as to protect a friend, a loved one or just anyone.

On to the characters. Each character was developed very carefully and perfectly, especially Yukiteru. At first, he was nothing but a sniveling coward who found it very difficult to interact with those he came across and couldn't be of much help to his friends but throughout the manga, these began to deteriorate. Throughout the manga, each character is properly introduced and developed with fight scenes which causes some characters to question his/her morality or when a character begins making choices he/she wouldn't make under normal circumstances.

In terms of the art, it's rather well done, especially the blood being show. With Yuno, the main female heroine, her expressions are shown rather easily and how it showed a character going virtually insane. I especially enjoyed how each chapter was beautifully depicted with what I've explained above but also the fight scenes being shown.

The way I enjoyed this particular manga was by how intricate and enticing the plot was with a character drastically changing to fit the plot and the constant twists and turns we saw. By twists and turns, I'm referring to how a character's personality will change drastically or by the planning of some of the characters. But what really piqued my interest was the psychopathic Yuno dedicate herself to protecting Yukiteru or Yuuki, no matter what situation is. Even the Future Diaries themselves were well-done due to some being drastically different in appearance than the others.

I strongly recommend reading Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) in terms of psychological, horror and mystery.

One of the most interesting and best supernatural mangas around right now I'd have to say. It starts with what seems like a high school manga with what seems to be psychological elements but soon turns into a supernatural survival where anyone could be a possible enermy and trust becomes a hinderence.

The plot is great and the art is good but what really get you sucked in is the characters of the 12 diary holders, including the two main characters and the battle scenes between the diary holders. Though these aren't typical battle scenes of swords and the like you usually see, rather these are battles of smarts and stratergy with thier future diaries as weapons and "followers" as thier soldiers. Also, one gets a feeling that the main characters are not at all invincible and have just as much chance as getting killed as thier opponents, though Yuno, stalker of Yuki and the 2nd diary holder is a monster even among the sadisctic murderers that are the 10 other diary holders.

The characters of the manga vary, from the cowardly and self loathing Yuki to the manipulative and complex 4th diary holder Keigo Kurusu. It seems as though each diary holder has had life problems making them the way they are, although some are not revealed and each has a reason for killing the others and becoming God and many seem almost psychotic. Yuno the 2nd, is one of these who is obsessed and devoted to protecting and saving Yuki. She's not at all effected by killing others except him and has incredible battle capabilities. However Yuki, the main character is quite the opposite. Too scared to fight, dosn't have much skill or strength and trusts too much in other people. Thier future diaries in a way reflect them as Yuno's diary consists only of the future events surrounding Yuki, and Yuki's consists of much information on the future but none about himself.

I gave the manga an overall 10 simply because I genuinly think it's one of the best supernatural mangas around with complex characters and plots, it leaves the generic and bland like Shonen mangas in the dust.

well this manga was pretty much IT. the story was unique and it was really like going into a climax and anti climax over and over again. the only reason i gave it that score was because it was kinda too depressing not to mention that it was just too out of sync. i gave the characters that score cause i wished that yukki was not so weaky and weepy. it not becoming of a man. other than that this manga was genius!! :)

This has become one of my most favorite manga, and i can't wait until it get's licensed for U.S. distribution.

As well with a good story that kept myself on my toes on wandering what and how everything would happen next.

The art was overall okay it had it's ups and downs, but when it needed to get bloody, or scary it got the edges and everything for it.

The characters.......Yukiteru reminds me alot of a more wimpish version of Light Yagami, and Simon from Gurren Laggan. By the time at the beginning he doesn't want to do it at all, and is scared of Yuno a bit, his social skills, self confidence, and bravery are at low levels but when Yuno or his friends are endagered he becomes couragoues and willing to fight to save what's precious to him. Later in the story he accpts himself to become god, and take over Dues the man behind the inciednt of the survial game with more confidence in himself and in Yuno aswell.


My overall enjoymnt of this series so far is very high becuase after finishing a chapter i began to think "What if this happened, or did he finally do it?"


Overall my score to this masterpiece of pyschological horror, and being a master of suspense brings to a perfect for me.

If your fan of series like Higurashi, Paranoia Agent, or Elfen Lied you'll probably enjoy this.

This mangaka has no concept of transitions - we are quite literally thrown from arc to arc without a care in the world. It got to the point where I actually thought I was missing pages or chapters.

Arcs are thrown into your face without any explanation, characters appear out of nowhere - there is no foreshadowing nor people actually lurking in the shadows; one moment you will be looking at a shrine, and on the next page you'll be in a cave with some random person for one panel, and thats the last you see of them for the chapter, so when they get hurled into your face again, it immediately jerks a "who the fuck is that?" response over and over.

And dear fuck, the deus ex machina.

Yeah, yeah, I know what you might be thinking - "OH TEE HEE DEUX EX MACHINE THATS THE NAME OF THAT GOD PERSON IN THE MANGA HES DOING IT ON PURPOSE!!!"

No. If the mangaka is doing this on purpose, hes a moron. If he's not, hes still a moron. There is absolutely no meaning whatsoever to the plot-deux-ex-machina. At all. It's not satire on other mangas, its not some game changing plot device abuse, its not the breakfast club, its just total shit.

This manga actually appears to only annoy the living fuck out of people with its inconsistencies. And I don't mean a kind of minor annoyance, like the inconsistency of a pudding. This level of inconsistency is like being hurled around in a plane that drops to ground level about 50 times from 10 thousand feet up in 1 minute.

That's not even possible.

At many points throughout the manga I felt that it would've been better if the characters did not speak. Not for dramatic effect, but just because all the characters are fucking morons and should keep their mouths shut the hell up. This is most prominent in the "transition" page we get every few chapters. Completely full of shit that makes no sense. It might seem like I'm being dismissive here - and that's because I am. This manga should simply have been dismissed from the editing office, but instead, we're here and I have to write this review to sate my massive why-the-fuck-who-the-fuck-where-the-fuck headache.

The sole redeeming point of this manga, aside from it having a yandere, is how the main character changed at the end of the series. He actually became a pretty cool guy, and made the last few chapters actually enjoyable.

Unfortunately that does not change the fact that this manga is shit. What I would compare this to is you being force fed shit, literally, for the majority of your life, but for the last few days, you get pudding. Just a normal pudding, ya know? But compared to the shit you've been fed, that pudding is god. It also helps that your tongue is probably numb from all the shit

I actually recommend you read SOME of this manga, especially if any of you are interested in writing. This manga will provide a perfect example of what not to do for transitions, storyline, and will make sure you thoroughly check your work for swiss cheese.

To me Mirai Nikki is a truly unique manga. It's the only work of fiction that I've come across that somehow manages to be "so bad it's good" while also being damn good! Sometimes it comes of as so silly that I laugh at it, but still I find myself genuinely interested in what will happen next. I don't know how it manages to pull this off, usually when I laugh at how a plot twist or element is stupid (in some other manga) I would begin to feel that the entire manga is stupid and bad. But not with Mirai Nikki! This paradoxical quality intrigues me. But maybe I'm alone in feeling like this towards this manga.

The story of this manga is at times really clever and complicated. The concept for the story is good and the manga has a lot of cliffhangers and unsolved mysteries so you'll easily get hooked. The pacing is mostly good, but some random scenes can be a bit slow. While the plot as a whole is thought out, sometimes it honestly makes no sense and some scenes just feel fail and silly. Still this is part of its charm.

The art is okay. It's pretty standard "nothing special"-manga style and it does what it's supposed to. Some expressions can be a bit over the top but for most of the time it works.

Some of the characters here are truly great, but the vast majority of them are pretty boring and forgettable. However Mirai Nikki has the most Yandere Yandere ever! And she is awesome! She alone is reason enough to read this manga.

Overall I found this manga very enjoyable. But sometimes it was enjoyable because of the wrong reasons. So even tough I enjoyed it I don't consider it to be a truly great manga. It's no masterpiece or work of art but it'll keep you entertained and I recommend reading it. :)

Welcome to the cruel game of survival. If you hold a Future Diary, you're a possible target for the game to get the rank of God. And everyone else has some type of Future Diary too.

This is the plot where Mirai Nikki revolves in. But the manga explains how the game is started. How? Yukiteru, the main character, is pretty much an outcast. Left without friends, Yukiteru begins to create imaginary friends like Deus Ex Machina, the 'Lord of Time and Space.' However, creating this 'Lord' comes with a price; creating 11 Future Diary holders.

This is definitely something unique. Never really seen something like it before. The pacing can get a little too fast though.

And now, the characters. Yuno is your typical overprotective person, protecting Yukiteru and becoming obsessed with him. But there's a twist... she's a yandere, someone who'll even kill someone else to 'protect' his/her lover. Definitely something good coming your way. But then, comes your typical backboneless character, Yukiteru himself. But he develops well. And the other ten Diary Holders, too. You'll be turning the pages crazily, learning about each and every Diary Holder and their personalities.

Can't say anything much about the art, though. Pretty average and serves its purpose well.

Overall, I've enjoyed this manga very much. Brutal scenes line the pages of this manga, and don't expect a touching and cute romance. You're in for a ride.
